The Fall Growing Season starts Now!

I am willing to bet the garden you started last spring is probably not producing much now that we are deep into the heat of the summer. But now is the time to get your garden ready and planted for our second growing season!

The ground is already warm so you can put a lot of seeds in right now.  One of the easiest second season plants to cultivate is green beans.  They like full sun, good drainage, consistent water.  They grow into bushes that mature in about 8 weeks.  If you plant in early August, you'll have a crop by October.

To get your soil ready for planting, add a lot of organic matter like compost, manure and mulch to make the optimal top soil for your plantings.

The second growing season will end at the first freeze which is usually around Thanksgiving.  So if you hurry, you can have several months of home grown produce!
